Action


1. To warm the lung and resolve phlegm
2. To resolve lumps by invigorating the circulation of Qi

Indication


1. Cough with profuse phlegm and tuberculosis
2. Pleurisy with stuffy sensation in the chest and liquid accumulation in the thoracic cavity.
3. Pain in the joints and extremities with numbness

Contra-indication


For a person with cough caused by deficiency of lung; with excess fire in the body caused by deficiency of Yin.

Chemical Component

Sinalbin, sinigrin, sinapine, myrosin, lipid, protein, mucilage.

Recommended Dosage

3-9 gm.

Pharm. Action


1. Anti.bacterial
2. Anti-fungal - A concentration of 1:3 ratio has inhibitory action on the growth of fungus.

Sinigrin

(Sinigroside, potassium myronate):
1. Pungent and irritant - because of the mustard oil which is a product of sinigrin after hydrolysis.
2. On application to the skin, it may induce a sense of warm feeling, but may cause redness, blister or bleb.
