Action


1. To resolve phlegm and soften hardening
2. Diuretic

Indication


1. Goiter, scrofula, or chronic inflammation of the lymph node
2. Edema

Contra-indication


For a person with symptoms of cold and dampness caused by hypofunction of the spleen and stomach

Pharm. Action


1. Action on the thyroid gland:
a. The iodine content in Kun Bu can be retained in the body for a long period of time and the rate of excretion is slow
b. Used for hypothyroidism caused by iodine deficiency.
c. Temporarily it can inhibit the rate of metabolism of patients with hyperthyroidism and relieve some of the symptoms.

2. Anti-inflammatory - after the absorption of iodine, it can increase the absorption of pathological products and inflammatory effusions, and the lysis or dissolution of pathological tissues.

3. Anti.hypertensive - laminine can lower the blood pressure for a short period of time. This action cannot be
blocked by atropine.

4. Antitussive and anti-asthmatic

5. Anti-parasitic - inhibits the growth of the larvae and adult forms of schistosoma. It has therapeutic effect on the pathological changes of the liver tissues damaged by schistosomiasis.

6. Similar action as heparin - has no significant anti-coagulation action, but it can decrease the concentration of fat or lipid in blood. It can be used for atherosclerosis.

Alginic acid (Norgine):


1. Substitution for plasma - increase the blood volume, maintain the blood pressure, and can be used for shock caused by external trauma in emergency situation.
